Text description provided by the architects. In 2006, the design for the new Fire Station 1 in Dortmund was selected as the winner. The jury especially praised “good operational processes, good management of various zones, the sensitive and appropriately formed welcoming qualities and the functionally excellent connected and publicly presentable entry area.“
The new building will be realized during several phases during continued operations. In Fall 2010, the first phase was completed: the new control center with management and situation center, workshop and storage areas, as well as lounges and rest areas.
In a second phase, the four-story office building will be built. The new structure corresponds to the KfW 40 standard. A heat pump system with thermoactive piles for heating and cooling contributes to the energy efficiency.
